The Unnameable
A Lovecraftian Second Coming in Villanelle
As a red star rises in an unruly sky
And the fluids of Lake Hali seethe and burn,
What unnameable horror breathes its birthing cry?
The next closing of a millenium draws nigh,
Aligning cold worlds while galaxies turn
As a red star rises in an unruly sky.
While dark cultists scheme and blind conspiracies try
To buy an immortality none can earn,
What unnameable horror breathes its birthing cry?
Crushing the slumber of dead gods who dreaming lie,
Great realms of life perish and new oceans churn
As a red star rises in an unruly sky.
The King in Yellow croaks a last burbling sigh,
And any near who can hear strive not to learn
What unnameable horror breathes its birthing cry.
With the passing of aeons even death may die
And shades damned to chaos eagerly return.
As a red star rises in an unruly sky
What unnameable horror breathes its birthing cry?
